No need for lengthy descriptions,
Or for large words to be used.
Often it can be only a small amount that is needed to deliver a big punch.
The simple one liner is often remembered and easily repeated. It can remind you of a movie or an experience, but more often I have found that the simple one line statement brings greater meaning or even a greater challenge than expected.
Recently I was watching a movie when one of the youngest actors spoke a simple line that caused me to be encouraged. How often I hear so many lines, (yes I do like to watch a movie or two) yet rarely do I take it in as much as I did recently.
One simple phrase brought a smile to my soul and a good bolt of encouragement. Yes we can even be spoken to and encouraged through movies.
It was faith explained in short phrase.
The young boy was questioned about a fictitious character. But regardless of the opinions or unbelief of others he was not going to be swayed from what he truly believed to be true. He was questioned by his step father in the movie, with the statement: “but he is just not real’. His reply was:
“Have you ever seen 1 million dollars?” “Mmm, no” his step father replied. The answer given and my encouragement to this was:
“Just because you have not ever seen it, does not mean it doesn’t exist”
What a statement of faith!!
Just because I cannot see what I am believing for, or what I sense to be true or believe will happen, does not mean it doesn’t exist, or that it is not going to come to pass.
How often do I sit down and use a chair and never doubt it will work?
How often do I tackle my simple every day tasks without giving thought yet, I do all this with a faith that they will occur in the manner in which they should. And so they should; the fact is, I have no hesitation in expecting they will work as they should.
Simple everyday actions of faith.
Yet when the bigger issues of life present themselves to me, they come in such a stronger force. It is like they hold a greater power over me, so I complicate and question the situation more and more. I begin to analyze and allow my doubt to grow as it is fed by the never-ending possibilities of failure. The more I focus on the ‘not existing’ the more I believe in it not being true; the seed of doubt grows oh so quickly.
As simple as this statement is, I find that the larger concerns in life cause complications, and allow this truth to be hidden.
The statement however is as God has told me.
To Have Faith, believe in Him and the plans and purposes He has for me. Simply said – trust Him.
God states in His word “No eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
1 Corinthians 2:9
My eyes have not seen!
Just because I have never seen it, does not mean it doesn’t exist!
God has a plan and purpose for you and for me; in fact He tells me He has prepared it for us. How exciting!
So let’s remind ourselves that just because we cannot see it today….
Yes you know… does not mean it is not going to happen!
